Garden with Insight v1.0 Help: factor

A factor as used in this simulation is merely a number used to modify some process. Usually the range of a factor is arbitrarily set, often as a percentage or fraction. For example, a biomass reduction factor for declining leaf area index (LAI) is a number from zero to one that reduces the amount of new biomass the plant accumulates today (by multiplication) because the plant is old and the leaves are not as efficient at carrying out photosynthesis. For example, if the potential new biomass is 30 grams and the biomass reduction factor is 0.9, 27 grams of new biomass will be created.
