Garden with Insight v1.0 Help: mulch

In gardening books the word mulch is used widely to mean any covering that is used to prevent the growth of weeds, including straw, bark chips, and black plastic. We use the term here much more narrowly to mean dead plant matter slowly decomposing on the surface of the soil. Simulated plants that die or are pulled up enter into a mulch "layer" on the top of the soil patch, and slowly the mulch decays into the soil patch itself.
