Garden with Insight v1.0 Help: petiole


A petiole is the stalk that supports a leaf and connects it to the plant stem. Not all leaves have petioles (leaves without petioles are called sessile). There are many interesting varieties of leaf forms and adaptations; in this simulation we draw only the simplest forms.
