Garden with Insight v1.0 Help: rate

A rate is the amount of some variable in relation to another variable, usually a unit of time. The number of babies born per year is called the birth rate. A rate is shown graphically as the slope of a line drawn between points of the first variable (births) versus the second (year).

In this simulation most rates are per day since the simulation operates on a daily time step. In many cases the time variable is assumed and not presented. For example, the daily precipitation is shown in millimeters or inches, but it really is millimeters or inches per day.
