Garden with Insight v1.0 Help: Soil patch next day functions: calculate nitrification (ammonia to nitrate)

Nitrification (the conversion of ammonia to nitrate) and volatilization (the loss of ammonia to the atmosphere) are calculated simultaneously because they both operate on the same source (ammonia). Nitrification depends on temperature (warmer is better), soil water (best at wilting point plus 25% of field capacity minus wilting point), and pH (7.0 to 7.4 is best). These are all conditions that most favor the growth of aerobic soil bacteria that carry out nitrification.
