Garden with Insight v1.0 Help: leaching

Leaching is the loss of mineral nutrients (usually ions) in solution with water that leaves the soil due to runoff (water running off the surface of the soil), percolation (water trickling down through the soil), and lateral flow (water flowing horizontally out of the soil into another area).

In this simulation the amount of N and P lost in leached water depends on the amount of N and P in soluble form and the rate of water flow. The amount of N and P in soluble form depends on several nutrient cycling processes.

How it works:
percolation
N leaching, P leaching
